This Privacy Policy describes how the Ali Mail Automation Extension (“the Extension”) collects, uses, and protects your information. Your privacy is critically important to us. This Extension is designed with a strong focus on local processing and data minimization.
1. Data Collection and Processing
- Local Processing: The Extension operates entirely within your web browser (Chrome). All email data (sender, recipient, CC, subject, body content) and your defined automation rules are processed locally on your device. This data is never transmitted to our servers or any third-party servers by the Extension itself.
- No Personal Data Storage by Developer: We, the developers of this Extension, do not collect, store, or have access to any of your personal email data or automation rules. Your rules and email content remain on your local machine.
- API Keys (Optional): The Extension allows you to optionally configure an API key for a Large Language Model (LLM) service (e.g., Google Gemini) to enable AI-powered rule evaluation.
- If you choose to use this feature, your API key is stored locally within your browser’s extension storage. It is never transmitted to our servers.
- When an AI rule is triggered, the email’s subject and body content will be sent directly from your browser to the configured LLM API service for evaluation. This data transfer is directly between your browser and the LLM service provider, using your API key. We do not intermediate this process.
- The response from the LLM API (e.g., “MATCH” or “NO_MATCH”) is received by your browser and used to apply the rule locally. This response is not stored or transmitted to us.
- You are responsible for understanding and agreeing to the privacy policies and terms of service of any third-party LLM service you choose to integrate.
- Extension Settings and Rules: Your custom rules, including their conditions and actions, are stored locally in your browser’s Chrome Extension local storage. This storage is managed by your browser and is not accessible to us.
- Interaction with Ali Mail: The Extension interacts directly with the Ali Mail web interface to read email headers (sender, subject, basic mail IDs) and to perform actions such as marking emails as read, applying tags, or moving emails to folders. These interactions use your active Ali Mail session within your browser.
- The information processed by the Extension (email content, rules, API responses) is used solely for the purpose of executing your defined email automation rules locally within your browser.
- We do not use any data from the Extension for analytics, advertising, tracking, or any other purposes.
3. Data Security
- Since all data is processed locally on your device, the security of your data relies on the security of your browser and operating system.
- Your API keys for LLM services are stored locally and are your responsibility to protect.
4. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes. Changes to this Privacy Policy are effective when they are posted on this page.
